Peppertree Quarry

Australia

Project Overview

In 2014, Boral established a new quarry which was designed to provide up to 3.5 million tonnes of hard rock each year to support its supply of aggregates to the Sydney market for the next 30+ years.

The greenfields project is located at Marulan in rural NSW. As part of its environmentally friendly policy, Boral transports all product from the site by rail.

The Peppertree Quarry project includes:

  • Environmental approvals and clearing
  • Establishment of a new quarry
  • Crushing plant and rail loading facility.

TBH’s Role

Peppertree Quarry is now operating and has been selected as the main source of aggregate for the Barangaroo Project.

TBH provided a project manager and contracts manager as well as a range of support staff on full time secondment to enable Boral to mobilise this fast track project. This included the development of technical and commercial documentation for tenders, followed by protracted tender negotiations with overseas participants.

All of this was achieved by working seamlessly as part of the overall Boral team which included staff and senior management.

Boral requires strict process to be followed in calling and assessing its tenders. TBH staff conducted the whole tender process in strict compliance with these processes.
