Barangaroo

Australia

Project Overview

The NSW Government recognised the opportunity to renew Barangaroo as a vibrant commercial and mixed-use precinct with significant foreshore parkland. This urban renewal will create a new precinct for Sydney which reinforces the city’s competitive position within the Asia-Pacific region and for the future well-managed and sustainable growth of Australia’s premier global city.

The Barangaroo public domain is a key component of the Barangaroo project that will help reinforce its status as a world-class waterfront renewal precinct. The entire public domain and its relationship to the surrounds will help position Barangaroo as a high-quality mixed-use precinct with uninterrupted public access to Sydney Harbour.

The Barangaroo Delivery Authority (BDA) is responsible for the delivery of the 22ha area of the Sydney foreshore adjoining the CBD. The renewal of Barangaroo is an initiative of the NSW Government.

TBH’s Role

TBH has been retained by BDA to advise and assist it with the delivery and time management requirements of the development on Sydney Harbour.

  • Barangaroo North – the $200 million Headland Park and Northern Cove, including enabling works, sandstone quarrying, marine wall, 500te of earthworks, temporary and permanent infrastructure, landscaping, car parking and multi-purpose facility. TBH assisted BDA with delivery, staging, procurement, engineering ‘mass-haul’ and constructability planning, overall project programming including deterministic and stochastic delivery risk analysis and advice. TBH was also part of the tender review team for selecting the contractor for the project.
  • Barangaroo Central – the community and recreation facilities. TBH assisted BDA with the overall project programming of the new Overseas Passenger Terminal at White Bay to facilitate the timely relocation of the existing Barangaroo Overseas Passenger
  • Barangaroo South – Southern Precinct which will be developed by the Stage 1 Developer, Lend Lease. This precinct includes areas adjoining the CBD, Darling Harbour and the Southern Cove. It includes the $6 billion commercial, hotel and residential precinct. TBH is assisting BDA with cashflow reviews and independent and expert programme advice regarding the impact of changes to the project and project programming. TBH has been further advising BDA on delivery benchmarking towards defining optimal delivery and timing options.
