Project Overview
The Westmead Redevelopment includes the construction of a new Central Acute Services Building which aims to increase integration between Westmead Hospital and the Westmead Children’s Hospital, in addition to housing new operating theatres, surgical suites, and state of the art pharmacy and imaging. The project also includes significant refurbishments to both Westmead Hospital and the Children’s Hospital. The Redevelopment provides Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD) with the opportunity to review its models of care and systems, to take advantage of the new technologies being implemented. This gives rise to a considerable change management undertaking requiring coordination across a number of work-streams.
TBH’s Role
TBH was engaged by PWC on behalf of NSW Health Infrastructure to provide programming and scheduling services, including:
- Development of an Integrated Schedule schedule that identifies and manages the interdependencies between otherwise isolated operational commissioning workstreams, and physical construction activities;
- Provision of on-going status updates and maintenance of the Integrated Schedule;
- Development of tools to help the LHD define timelines and track progress for each;
- Development of executive-level reports which clearly highlight required timing for critical executive business decisions.
The TBH Difference
TBH worked closely with the LHD team to gain deep understanding of the complex activity relationships involved in the Operational Commissioning process, using the schedule as a tool to identify, highlight and address misalignment between the activities of each workstream.
