Sunshine Coast University Hospital

Australia

Project Overview

Sunshine Coast Public University Hospital was designed as a tertiary teaching hospital, servicing the Sunshine Coast region, as the hub in an integrated network of accessible healthcare.

The hospital was designed to facilitate approximately 450 beds in 2016 with the remaining capacity expected to be commissioned by 2020/21, which will see all 738 beds utilised. The hospital has been planned to allow for further expansion up to a total of 900 beds. The head contractor was LendLease under a public private partnership with Queensland Heath.

TBH’s Role

On the back of the successful delivery of the Gold Coast University Hospital, TBH was engaged by BT Australasia, a subcontractor of LendLease for the information, communication and technology (ICT) works, to develop a detailed and summary programme to identify the overall timeframe and interdependencies of the ICT works.

The programme included the design, procurement, development, installation and commissioning of the individual ICT infrastructure, equipment, applications and services and was used to express the urgency of commencing the ICT works as early as possible. The programme also took into account prerequisite and interdependent works to be completed by the client, Queensland Health, and head contractor, LendLease.
