The Nepean Hospital Stage 1 redevelopment included a new, 14-storey acute services tower as part of a $576 million project. This new tower features an expanded emergency department, 18 birthing suites, a neonatal intensive care unit, more than 16 operating theatres, and over 200 new inpatient beds.<\/p>\n
The expansion was implemented to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Western Sydney and Blue Mountains communities for decades to come. The Stage 1 work was part of a major two-stage upgrade of the hospital.<\/p>\n
TBH was originally engaged by Health Infrastructure in 2016 to provide programming support services to the project management team. These services included overall project Master Planning accounting for complex multi-stage decanting, contract establishment & provision of commercial advice, decanting and staging advice, provision of technical programming & delivery advice, reviewing and assessing Contractor claims and providing overall delivery phase progress monitoring and reporting.<\/p>\n
The project was delivered by way of an ECI contract, and TBH has been instrumental in working with the project team to establish positive outcomes for the project and all team members. This included the negotiation and finalisation of a Main Works Offer and successful conversion to a GMP Contract.<\/p>\n
In addition to the support TBH provided to the delivery works, we were also engaged by the Local Health District in the planning for the operational readiness, decant and relocation to the new Acute Services Building, ensuring a smooth transition from construction to operational phases of the works.
