LAND 121 Phase 4
LAND 121 Phase 4 was designed to acquire 1,100 protected mobility vehicles – light (PMV-L) and 1058 companion trailers for command, liaison, utility and reconnaissance roles. The PMV-L has been developed to provide an optimum balance of the requirements for survivability, mobility, payload, communications, usability and sustainability.
The vehicle delivers a new capability for the Australian Army, providing a level of protection comparable to the Thales Bushmaster at around half the weight. The PMV-L will provide significantly improved mobility which will enable it to operate in high-risk areas. It is the only protected mobility vehicle capable of being transported by ADF helicopter.
TBH was engaged to provide process improvement, scheduling and cost support to the Hawkei Project Management Support Group (PMSG) in Thales.
The unique challenge of the PMSG was aligning data in two pairs of integrated cost and scheduling tools, one pair of these tools was used for Internal Reporting and the other for Commonwealth Reporting. TBH’s support helped bring together and align these toolsets and contributed to improved consistency, accuracy and ease of operation of the status update process.
The existing schedule update process was time consuming and labour-intense, TBH created an electronic collection and health check process that allowed for automated status input. The solution improved data processing time and accuracy.
The Project Hawkei size was a challenge for internal Earned Value reporting, TBH seamlessly expanded the capabilities of the existing reporting tools to cope with the larger project size.
