Subsequent world class discoveries in later years led to significant changes to Australia\u2019s industry<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and economy.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">There are now 21 offshore platforms and installations in Bass Strait, which feed a network of 600km of underwater<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">pipelines and keep the oil and gas flowing 24 hours a day. To date, almost four billion barrels of crude oil and around<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">seven trillion cubic feet of gas have been produced.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Engineering firm United Group Ltd\u2019s 50-50 joint venture with German company Kaefer holds the $550 million contract<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">with Esso Australia.
