Olympic Dam Expansion Mine Dewatering and Depressurisation

Project Overview

The Olympic Dam Expansion in South Australia is planned to create the world’s largest uranium mine. It will also produce gold, copper and silver.

Prior to excavation of the pit, a ground dewatering and depressurisation network requires construction. The medium term water supply must also be supplemented via the extraction and piping (30km) of groundwater to the mine site.

 

TBH’s Role

TBH was engaged by RPS Aquaterra to develop the estimate and schedule for the works’ definition study.

The scope of works included the development of the water piping, control system infrastructure, power supply system, mechanical and electrical Installation estimate and schedule.

Using BHP Billiton’s systems and processes, TBH aligned the work and cost breakdown structures to produce a fully costed and resource loaded schedule for the works.
