Perth to Mandurah Rail Link

Australia

Project Overview

The Southern Suburbs Railway formed part of WA’s New Metro Rail public transport upgrade. Package A, valued at $325 million, was a key element of this upgrade and comprised a 72km section of rail track and associated infrastructure including nine stations, 15 bridges and two electrical substations for the rail network from Perth to Mandurah.

Package A also included work to the Perth Yards and tunnel from Perth station to the Narrows Bridge. O’Donnell Griffin (ODG) was subcontracted by the RailLink joint venture to complete the Package A electrical works including signalling, communications, traction power and overhead transmission lines.

TBH’s Role

TBH provided detailed monitoring of components of the works. This required liaising with the construction manager, project manager and site personnel to update the consolidated programme that included ODG’s works together with the subcontractor’s works for signalling, communications, traction power.

TBH provided detailed expert advice relating to delays experienced during the works. This included detailed analysis of contractor’s and sub-contractor’s programmes, analysis of extension of time and acceleration claims and of contemporaneous records.

Detailed analysis was completed for both upstream and downstream claims.
