Project Overview
Global Switch, one of the world’s largest data centre operators, was building an environmentally sustainable data centre in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong.
The new data centre comprised of five buildings, with a total of 45,000m2 of floor space to store servers and cooling systems, providing an output of 100MW IT Capacity.
The buildings will incorporate some of the industry’s latest design features, providing best-in-class technical solutions with a focus on resiliency.
Offering a range of cloud, colocation and managed services in a low-risk operational environment, Global Switch Hong Kong has high redundancy utility power supply capacity to service the needs of major global clients.
Global Switch employed a main contractor to construct the data centre, with construction commencing in 2019.
TBH’s Role
TBH was engaged by Global Switch Hong Kong to undertake the following:
- Assessment of the Main Contractor’s contract programme;
– Review programme structure including logic and testing for concurrency;
– Independently assess the achievability of the forecast data against contractual obligations;
– Highlight key opportunities to mitigate programme risks or otherwise improve the proposed approach to delivery;
- Explore and develop a ‘client’s programme’ based on the Contractor’s Master programme and on-site progress
to enable the client to better manage the contractor derisk commercial exposure.
The TBH Difference
TBH helped provide clear visibility on the project timeline, identified risks and provided recommendations to mitigate issues, which enabled a smarter and lower risk means of completing the project.
The project was ultimately delivered successfully with both the client and contractor benefiting from a clear and achievable roadmap for delivery and clarity regarding interface points.
