Project Overview

The Sydney 2000 Olympic Games required the delivery of one of Australia’s largest and most complex infrastructure and event programs, spanning from initial planning in 1993 to post-Games legacy works completed by 2010. Key elements included Olympic Park infrastructure, Stadium Australia, Sydney Superdome, Showgrounds, Athletes’ and Media Villages, International Broadcast Centre, major transport and utilities upgrades, and a large-scale remediation and ecological renewal program. The program was coordinated by the Olympic Co-ordination Authority, Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Olympic Roads & Transport Authority, and SOCOG.

TBH’s Role

  • Developing and maintaining integrated master programs, advising on delivery strategy, and providing program and cost management services.
  • Delivering risk and value management advice, including constructability studies, optioneering, and procurement support.
  • Supporting Games-time and legacy works through contract administration, PPP independent verification, fitout conversions, and planning for long-term site reuse and sustainability.

Value Created

TBH’s integrated planning, risk, and commercial advice enabled the successful delivery of Sydney’s Olympic program on schedule and within budget, while supporting defensible decisions and managing delivery risk across multiple venues and city-wide infrastructure. Our work also helped transition the precinct into its post-Games legacy state, aligning short-term event needs with long-term sustainability and community use.
