Project Overview
Telstra InfraCo is supporting the third part of ViaSat-3: a three-part global satellite constellation covering the America’s, Europe and now Asia-Pacific. That means co-locating Viasat’s satellite access node (SAN) equipment at hundreds of Telstra sites across Australia and building and managing high-speed fibre links to each site. The network also connects the SAN sites to over a dozen data centres that will house the core networking equipment needed to manage the expected increase in data traffic.
TBH’s Role
Due to Project Three’s complexity and scale, Telstra InfraCo subcontracted TBH to provide P3M services, including:
- Planning & Scheduling the construction of 300 SAN Sitesdishes, data centre connection, and in line repeater sites
- Planning and scheduling 1095 kilometres of fibre optic cable linking the SAN sites and data centres between Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria
- Establishing Governance and reporting across all workstreams ensuring clear communication alignment
- Documenting and reporting on project progress, risks and issues
