Ausgrid Contract Delivery Reviews

Australia

Project Overview

Ausgrid, a state-owned electricity infrastructure company, owns, maintains and operates the electrical distribution networks to 1.6 million customers in Sydney, Central Coast, Hunter Region and Newcastle areas of New South Wales.

Ausgrid manages a number of large contracts as part of its business including:

  • Vegetation management
  • Contract Cable Laying (CCL)

TBH’s Role

TBH was engaged to carry out a detailed independent executive review of the Vegetation Management and CCL delivery programs. The review focused on identifying areas for improving the contract procedures and associated administration.

These reviews included:

  • Interviews with all levels of the delivery team
  • Assessment of compliance with the contract
  • Review of existing contract management and administration tools, systems and processes
  • Recommendations for improvement

The CCL program was subject to an ICAC investigation in 2015. Following the completion of our review, TBH was engaged to advise on and facilitate the development of an optimum contracting model to discourage corrupt behaviour whilst maintaining commercial viability. TBH was also engaged to assist in the development of the tender documents for this contract and the assessment of the tender responses.
