Project Overview
The Greenland Centre, a residential skyscraper currently under construction, is located on the corner of Bathurst and Pitt Streets. It will become the tallest residential tower in Sydney. The building will comprise more than 470 apartments and six penthouses, across 66 levels and will also include the conversion of the adjoining heritage-listed, Art Deco style former Metropolitan Water Sewerage and Drainage Board building into a boutique 180-bed, five-star hotel. The project has a large temporary works component due to the retention of the skeleton of the existing Sydney Water tower that currently occupies the site.
TBH’s Role
TBH was initially engaged to manage the tender process for the main contractor, including preparing the tender package. The main contractor was engaged through a managing contractor form of contract – not common in the Australian market. There was also a large component of developer supplied material that needed to be incorporated into the contract. Post award, TBH was engaged to provide contract administration services as well as specialist planning advice including interrogation of the contractors detailed contract programme and subsequent programme revisions.
