8 February 2023 – Today marks a significant milestone in the TBH calendar, as we celebrate our 58th anniversary.
It was on this day in 1965, that three young American engineers, Richard Tracey, Gerry Brunstom & Robert Dudley, established an Australian arm of their Seattle-based consultancy, Tracey, Brunstom & Dudley (TBD), to provide the US Navy with planning and scheduling support at the Harrold Holt Communications Base in Exmouth, WA. As pioneers in their field, TBD brought the then ‘state of the art’ concept of critical path programming to Australia, introducing Professional Project Management to the Asia-Pacific region
In 1976, the Americans were bought out and the company became 100% Australian-owned, rebranded as Tracey, Brunstom & Hammond, or TBH as we know it today.
Over the past 58 years, TBH has continued to grow and evolve as a premier professional services organisation. From its base in Sydney, TBH began to expand geographically – opening new offices in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide and internationally in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and Riyadh. Over this time, TBH expanded its service offering from a core of planning and scheduling and dispute resolution to include integrated project controls, P3M, cost and risk management, project management and strategic advisory services. TBH now operates across every sector that uses projects as a delivery mechanism from IT to renewables and everything in between.
Throughout its history, TBH have been at the forefront of Project Management in Australia and have achieved many notable accomplishments. It co-founded the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), and its former Managing Director, Brian Kooyman, was a key contributor to the universally acknowledged Project Management handbook, PMBOK. TBH has been instrumental in ensuring professional Project Management is recognised at the tertiary level with undergraduate degrees now being offered at major universities across Australia. TBH has worked on just about every major infrastructure and health project in Australia since 1965, and many of its staff, even those who joined them straight out of university, have gone on to become world-renowned experts in their field.
As we step in to our 58th year of service, we strive to provide the same excellent service and practical solutions to all our clients, while maintaining the vibrant culture of TBH.
