Project Overview
Project EnergyConnect (PEC) is a major electricity transmission line project with a total length of 900 km. This interconnector connects South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria’s grids in Australia aiming to protect the energy infrastructure of these states as well as enabling the connection of numerous renewable energy zones to the network. 700km of this interconnector as well as four of the main substations required, are constructed by Transgrid in NSW and Victoria.
TBH’s Role
TBH was engaged by Transgrid to lead planning and project controls for the project. TBH was engaged from the early stages of the project and requested to continue this role through delivery, construction, completion, testing, commissioning, energisation and inter-network testing.
The TBH Difference
Based on TBH’s experience in delivering similar projects and close collaboration with Transgrid’s project team, its consultants and EPC Contractor, TBH prepared delivery programmes. This included mitigation and acceleration programmes based on solutions that TBH was instrumental in developing to bring the project back on track. TBH frequently validated the Contractor’s programme and assisted them in improving their programme by analysing the scope, productivity, and resources from design to completion whilst providing inputs on risks and commercial matters. To maintain visibility of the likelihood of achieving critical milestones, TBH provided accurate and timely reporting to all levels of the client, from executives to site engineers. To streamline swift and effective decision-making, TBH designed and developed multiple bespoke, live and dynamic dashboards that ensured visibility of progress of various aspects of the project throughout delivery, from land acquisition at the start to defect rectification at the end.
