North South Corridor Delivery Strategy

Australia

Project Overview

The North South Corridor is proposed to connect the North of Adelaide to the South along a free flowing section of road. The total length of the project is 78km with works taking place between Gawler and Old Noarlunga.

The works along the corridor consist of a number of different projects with some sections already complete. The majority of works that remain to date are set to take place along the existing south road which will link the northern and southern expressways together, completing the corridor.

TBH’s Role

TBH’s assisted the DPTI with the development of a strategy for carrying out works along the North South Corridor.

This included:

  • Providing expert analysis based on previous experience to identify risks and opportunities across the corridor.
  • Resourcing of projects
  • Considering interruptions to traffic flow and how this could affect staging of projects

TBH’s role included developing scenario programs and associated cash flows looking to minimise risk and maximise opportunities, including delivering in the most efficient manner.

TBH developed alternative models for delivering the project to save time when compared to the existing model implicated when delivering road projects in South Australia.

TBH’s alternative models challenged the traditional approach used by DPTI in a number of ways including treating the corridor as a Program of works, rather than individual projects and looking at radically reduced timeframes for items such as land acquisition and service relocations, via the approach to these and using experience in other areas of Australia.
