Project Overview
The Qantas Group Training Centre project involved the relocation of Qantas’ existing flight training centre from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport to a new location within their landholdings at Mascot. The relocation of the flight training centre in Sydney was intended to enable Qantas’ long-term employment generation to remain predominantly in Sydney and represents a logical co-location with Qantas’ Head Office in its corporate campus. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the original proposal was stopped part-way through construction and the project was re-designed and relocated to Brisbane Airport.
TBH’s Role
TBH was engaged to provide the following keys services:
- Develop a detailed delivery programme as part of the planning application. TBH continued to provide updated programmes to the project team to address design and planning revisions.
- Assess the shortlisted tender programme submissions and provided the project team with recommendations on the tender selection. Following appointment of the contractor, TBH also provided Contract programme review and assessment.
- Provide programme status and programme reviews periodically during the delivery of the project.
- Provide periodic Schedule Risk Analyses (SRAs) to inform the likely outcomes, risks and probability of completion dates to assist Qantas with the relocation of flight simulator equipment to the new facility.
The TBH Difference
TBH worked collaboratively with the Qantas project team to assist with programme monitoring and risk management to ensure Qantas could meet a tight and constrained timeline for the relocation of flight simulator equipment and services. This assisted Qantas by providing early warning of programme risks and issues that could be identified and addressed by the project team and contractor
