Project Overview 

Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects have commissioned the construction of additional terminal space and concourse areas comprising an extra 340,000sqm of floor space – twice the footprint of London Heathrow Terminal 5. This includes the construction of a new concourse – Concourse D – which will be connected to Terminal 1 to facilitate check-in and baggage servicing with an Automated People Mover link to Terminal 1.

The project scope also included the refurbishment and upgrade of Terminal 1. Refurbishment of Architectural/ ID and upgrade of MEP and Special Airport Systems.:

TBH’s Role

  • TBH prepared, presented and obtained consent from Dubai Airports Engineering Projects for the Main Contractor’s Baseline Program, including design, fabrication, deliveries, installation, commissioning, construction works, operational readiness and integration with existing works and operations.
  • TBH led the main contractors planning department in implementing a pro-active claims avoidance approach through on-going Delay Analysis and management of the baseline programme. TBH liaised with Dubai Airports Engineering Projects on behalf of the main contractor to present progress, phasing plans, target programmes and mitigation measures.
  • TBH provided a Monthly Report to Dubai Airports Engineering Projects which includes, the effect of the progress on the critical paths, identification of delayed activities and analysis of the reasons for slippage, recommendations on ways in which identified delay may be recovered and trend analysis.
  • TBH facilitated full coordination with the Stakeholders and the Employer to phase the work as necessary and keep the terminal and other related facilities operational and functional during the whole period of the construction.
