Hong Kong Jockey Club Conghua Training Centre
The Conghua Training Centre is a world class facility for Hong Kong’s thoroughbred racehorses located 200km away in China. The client Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), proposed this development due to the limited land space in Hong Kong and selected a site which previously hosted the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.
The new horse racing facility features four new tracks including one turf course (2000m), two all-weather tracks (1800m, 1600m) and a turf uphill gallop (1100m), which is the first of its kind in the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong. The facility also provides a fully equipped equine hospital, farrier forge, equine swimming pool, rehabilitation and training facilities.
The complete development for Conghua is proposed to house up to 1500 horses with further future developments planned for the racecourse including showcase horse racing.
The HKJC engaged TBH to develop a critical path based schedule for the operational requirements associated with bringing the facility online and operational into the future. The schedule involved engaging 25+ business units and identifying all the integrated dependencies throughout the project in order to manage the impacts and relationships of each stakeholder to the overall operations.
Key project areas such as fit out planning were detailed in order to establish and determine timelines of 1000+ individual room and facility handovers to stakeholders in order to achieve operational readiness.
The implementation of tailored project controls and reports supported the HKJC management with total project visibility and allowed control mechanisms to manage the project throughout each stage in order to achieve Operational Readiness.
