Project EnergyConnect

Project Overview

Project EnergyConnect (PEC) is a major electricity transmission line project with a total length of 900 km. This interconnector connects South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria’s grids in Australia with the purpose of protecting the energy infrastructure of these states and enabling the connection of numerous renewable energy zones to the network. Transgrid are constructing 700km of this interconnector, including three of the main substations required in NSW.

TBH’s Role

TBH was engaged by Transgrid to lead planning and project controls for the project. TBH was engaged from the early stages of the project and requested to continue this role through delivery, construction, completion, testing, commissioning, energisation and inter-network testing.

Utilising TBH’s experience in delivering similar projects and through close collaboration with Transgrid’s project team and EPC Contractor, TBH have:

• Prepared and reviewed delivery programmes and implemented robust project performance measurement processes and tools to ensure safe and effective delivery.
• Produced and assessed solutions that have been inputted into mitigation and acceleration programmes instrumental to safeguarding delivery through challenging project conditions.
• Streamlined swift and effective decision-making through the design and development of bespoke, live and dynamic dashboards giving visibility of progress of the project throughout delivery, from land acquisition to defect rectification.
• Validated the Contractor’s programme and assisted them in improving their programme by analysing scope, productivity, and resources from design to completion
• Provided input on risk and commercial matters; from potential disputes to handover readiness.
• Ensured visibility of the likelihood of achieving critical milestones, providing accurate and timely reporting to all levels of the client’s organisation, from executives to site engineers
